Polynucleotiedes
Back to treatments

Effective biostimulator

A biostimulator rather than a filler. Polynucleotides work at cellular level to wake up your fibroblasts, improve skin quality from within, and address dark circles, dullness, sun damage and scarring.

Treating skin quality,
not shape

Polynucleotides are injectable biostimulators, made from highly purified DNA fragments sourced from freshwater trout and salmon. They sit in a different category altogether from dermal filler. Expect skin-quality improvement instead of volumising or shaping. The injectable works at cellular level, activating the fibroblasts within your skin to produce more collagen and improving the overall health and quality of the skin itself. Expect improvements to the skin’s hydration, elasticity, firmness and overall quality.

Results build gradually over a course rather than appearing on the day, which is exactly what you would expect from a treatment working with your own biology.

The treatment

Where we use polynucleotides

Under the eyes

This is where polynucleotides have become best known, and for good reason. The skin here is the thinnest on the face and often the first to show tiredness. Polynucleotides can help with the appearance of dark circles, fine lines and crepey texture, improving the quality of the skin rather than filling the hollow beneath it. For those who are prone to under-eye puffiness or have existing eye bags, polynucleotides are a great option instead of hyaluronic acid based treatments such as dermal filler.

Full face rejuvenation

For overall skin quality, radiance and firmness, particularly where sun damage or dullness is the main concern.

Neck, chest or hands

Areas that show ageing early and are often neglected, and where a regenerative approach works well.

Scalp

Polynucleotides are also used in the scalp for patients interested in hair restoration and density.

Your plan

Polynucleotides are given as a course, and we will map out the right number of sessions and spacing for you at your consultation, based on your skin and what you are hoping to achieve.

On the day

Topical numbing cream is applied first. You may notice small raised areas immediately after treatment, which usually settle within 24 hours.

Polynucleotiedes FAQ's

How are polynucleotides different from dermal filler?

Filler adds volume and creates shape. Polynucleotides add nothing structural at all — they stimulate your own cells to improve the quality of the skin from within. If your concern is texture, thinning, dullness or dark circles rather than lost volume, this is very often the more appropriate treatment.

Will I see a difference straight away?

No, and that is the nature of a regenerative treatment. The changes come as your own collagen production increases over the weeks following each session, and build across the course. We will always be honest with you at consultation about what to expect and when.

Are they suitable for under-eye dark circles?

Yes — polynucleotides are highly recommended for those wanting to improve the look of dark circles around the eyes. Whether they are right for you depends on what is actually causing the darkness, which is something we will assess properly at your consultation. Sometimes the answer is polynucleotides, sometimes it is a different treatment, and sometimes it is a combination.

Is there any downtime?

Minimal. You may have small raised bumps at the injection points for a few hours, and occasionally mild swelling or bruising is a risk, as with all injectables. Most patients carry on as normal.

How many sessions do I need?

An individualised protocol will be established for you following your consultation and assessment. On average, a course of three treatments is generally recommended, spaced at four week intervals. Maintenance typically looks like one or two sessions per year.

Do you have any spread the cost payment plans?

Yes, we offer Go Cardless (where you can add a payment amount of your choosing every month, to then use against any products or treatments in clinic). It can be cancelled at anytime. Additionally, we offer Klarna to pre pay or use at checkout, which splits your payment into x 3 payments, over 3 months, interest free. Please set up your Klarna account prior to your clinic visit.
